Torit State Director General for Agriculture and Forestry says the local farmers resort to bush burning because of security concerns.
Speaking to Radio Emmanuel on Monday, Romeo Ojinga said cultivators are traumatized because of the precious conflicts in the area.
He reported that people are still feeling insecure despite of the recent revitalized peace agreement.
Ojinga urges the national and state government and NGO’s to sensitize the local farmers about the peace agreement through workshops.
According to the director unnecessary burning of bushes may lead to outbreak of wildfires.
