Shortage of water in Tonj State has led to several conflicts among cattle keepers. This was confirmed by the Acting Director in the Ministry of Water Cooperation and Rural Development in Tonj State.
Thomas Tiem Manyoun points out lack of repairing equipment, drilling machines and spare parts as the major challenges facing the ministry.
He added that, last year the ministry was supported by some charitable organizations in supplying water to different locations and counties of the state.
The Director regrets that the state government is unable to purchase spare parts and other equipment for repairing the broken boreholes.
”I am so much worried about the lives of civilians especially during this dry season”, he articulates.
Manyoun also regrets that the local people cannot afford to dig a well to supply them with water.
He calls for an immediate intervention to rescue the civilians immediately.
”Our Director General acknowledged all the complaints from civilians but could not have a solution but kept telling them to be patient”, he stresses.
The official made these remarks to Don Bosco radio on Monday in Tonj.
