Torit Municipal Council Authority in collaboration with International Health Organization or IHO conducted a hygiene campaign through poems, dramas and music on health issues in Torit market on Thursday.
The campaign according to the authorities will aware the public on ensuring good hygiene by making safe drinking water from River Kinetti.
Speaking to Radio Emmanuel during the exercise Torit municipal health officer Ben Kalipsto Khamis says ensuring a healthy environment is the responsibility of every person.
He cautions the public on the health dangers against creating breeding places for houseflies within the town.
However, Chukudum Gloria Gudio, a volunteer for IHO and participant of the campaign emphasizes on self-commitment and proper awareness of the public on health matters.
Meanwhile, IHO staff Rikaju Robert Simaja says the campaign targets general public hygiene in Torit town.
He discloses that IHO is planning to rehabilitate 40 boreholes for communities across Torit State.
Robert says, 20 boreholes of the 40 have been completed.
Besides public sensitization, the municipal authorities mobilized traders to clean around the market and its surrounding.
