Union against HIV trains community members on poultry in Yambio

Union for Struggle against HIV/AIDS trains 30 community members living positively with HIV/AIDS and caretakers of orphans for two days on poultry keeping in Yambio.
 
Speaking during the opening, Union Director Woduapai Justin Francis says the aim of the training is to equip participants with the knowledge on how to keep poultry to earn living.
 
The director discloses that after the training the organization is going to donate chickens to the trained members to start a small poultry farm.
 
Justin says the organization will support orphans next year by paying their school fees and provision of all scholastic materials.
 
He calls on partners to engage with national association to build their capacity so that they may be able to offer humanitarian services to the people.
 
Justin urges all civil society, international NGOs to work for the benefit of the community.
 
Director-General of Livestock and Fisheries in the State Ministry of Agriculture in Gbudue Samuel Simon Zigizo appreciates the Union for the initiative.
 
He urges the participant to be committed and put the knowledge into full implementation.
 
Simon calls on the board of directors to work closely with the general assemblly for good service delivery to the community.
 
He discloses that the state ministry is willing to support groups in building their capacity in poultry and farming as sources of food security.
 
Participant representative Angelo Mapunga appreciates the Union for the training and that it helps them to live a sustainable life.
 
Another participant Livia Andrew encourages other people living with HIV to join groups so that they can share common ideas and gain skills.
 
The pilot project will run for one year with funding from Caritas Austria.
