Ministry of Health and Médecins Sans Frontières or MSF are planning to hold a workshop in Juba aimed at training staff on how to use the point-of-care ultrasound or POCUS on Friday.
The workshop will draw participants from Niger, Nigeria and Guinne Bissau will be attending.
During the event MSF Head of Mission and Medical Coordinator will speak to the media about the progress of this project and its impact on improving health care in South Sudan.
According to MSF, Medical Personnel generally rely on observed and reported symptoms and a certain amount of educated guesswork to make a diagnosis.
To address these limitations, the organization launched a feasibility study point-of-care ultrasound or POCUS in Aweil hospital in 2016 where it runs the pediatric and maternity departments in collaboration with the Ministry of Health.
MSF later extended POCUS and training on this innovative technology to its projects located in Agok and Malakal.
