GoSS Vice President told the Muslim community in South Sudan that his government is committed to protect them.

Riek Machar Teny made this statement at the conclusion of a dialogue conference between GoSS and Muslims in southern Sudan, Bakhita Radio reported.

Dr. Machar said Muslims were part of the society of southern Sudan and his government would protect their lives and properties whatever the referendum outcome may be.

Dr. Machar said his government wanted to build a just and equal society for all, including Muslims and northerners.

He added that GoSS would implement the resolutions of the conference in spirit.

The two day-conference that concluded today in Juba resolved that Muslims are to be free citizens in southern Sudan in the event of secession or unity.
