Torit State Deputy Governor Dr Margret Itto Leonardo criticises many traditional practices that treats Gender Base Violence as normal activity without understanding the effects in society.
Dr. Itto says GBV existed centuries ago which according to her contributes to underdevelopment in the country.
She urges leaders to work hard to silence issues of violence against women and girls.
Dr. Itto says she has seen many culprits involved in this acts brought to face the law but ends up being freed up with no serious penalty.
The Deputy Governor believes everyone is equal in the society.
She spoke during a one day workshop at Torit resource center conducted under the theme combating harmful traditional practices against girl child and women.
