Christians in the Catholic Diocese of Tombura-Yambio on Monday conducted a requiem mass for the soul of a Jesuit priest who was killed in Cuei-bet last Thursday.
Radio Anisa quoted Bishop Eduardo Hiiboro Kussala while presiding over the mass at St Mary Cathedral, regretting to see how Fr Victor Luke Odhiambo was murdered.
He terms it criminal, cruel and sinful act.
The Catholic prelate says the killing of a priest who was a teacher is a big loss to the Church and the people of South Sudan.
He adds that killing a priest this time in South Sudan indicates vulnerability of people to any unlawful act which shows weak law enforcement in the country.
The Bishop urges Christians to pray for the soul of the late priest, his family the people of Kakamega Catholic Diocese and entire people of Kenya where Fr Odhiambo came from.
