The Emeritus Bishop of Torit is convinced that a lasting peace is possible in South Sudan if only everybody is involved and contributes to it.
Bishop Paride Taban expresses optimism that if the quest for a lasting peace is done with the interest of people at heart, rather than individuals selfish interests.
Speaking to AMECEA Online News in Nairobi, Kenya, he says durable peace is possible if the commitment is done on behalf of the suffering masses at home and refugees in the neighboring countries.
Bishop Taban cites largely tribalism, selfishness, illiteracy and too many guns in the hands of civilians as the contributing factors of conflict in South Sudan which he says are major concerns and course of worry.
He further indicates that lack of gun control is something that is extremely dangerous in South Sudan and needs to be addressed immediately.
The Bishop stresses the need to trust in our God, not guns as God can still perform a miracle in South Sudan.
The Catholic prelate who is for treatment in Nairobi, Kenya is confident that ‘if peace cannot be achieved through human efforts, God will certainly make it happen’.
