Wau Court sentenced a twenty-four-year old man to ten years in prison for raping an underage girl at the United Nations Protection of Civilians site.
According to Voice of Hope Radio, the incident happened early this year and the victim died due to serious bleeding due to the act. The family reported the matter to the police.
Major Lola Carlo discloses that the court sentenced the perpetrator for 10 years and should pay 31 cows as blood compensation.
Major Lola explains that the court implemented the law deemed suitable to the case adding the perpetrator did not admit killing the girl.
The officer urges every family to report any case of rape in the community to make sure they follow up with the police closely to get justice.
Sources say there are several culprits who have been sentenced for rape in the past, but punishments are not effected due to no follow up from the families.
