The Police Commissioner in Tonj State on Thursday confirmed that three people were injured and thirteen others are in police custody after youth from Apuk-padoc clashed with those of Lou-paher in the town.
James Madut Ngor says the violence erupted as result of a land claimed by both sides in former Tonj North.
Machara, the disputed land was written on T-shirts worn by Apuk-padoc youth, fueling the conflict between the two communities.
Madut says the government is taking control of the security situation in the area.
He appeals to the communities not to take law in their hands but seek justice.
Those injured are taking medication in Tonj Civil Hospital.
Tonj Deputy Governor Francis Marial Abur, says police and security agents are investigating people to find out who manufactured the T-shirts and who brought them to Tonj.
He urges public to remain calm since the government is working hard to settle the issues.
The deputy governor points out that those who manufacture the T-shirts will face the law.
Marial advises communities to avoid issues that bring misunderstanding among the people.
The officials made the remarks on Thursday in an interview to Don Bosco Radio.
