A pastor of the African Ireland Church or AIC in Torit is condemning the alleged rape case committed in their compound.
Speaking to Radio Emmanuel on Friday, Pastor Peter Lokai says the act does not reflect to the norms of AIC.
He claims the accused is abnormal and not a pastor of the church.
‘The person is not a pastor in the AIC; the person is seeking for a shelter where to put himself. That is why he forced to put himself just within the AIC there. What he has done is not reflecting anything about AIC and bear in mind that he is also mentally not okay. As AIC we cannot put somebody having disease mentally as watchman. We are a church, we are really condemning this act of rape. So this is a church’, Pastor Lokai clarifies.
He says the accused was offered a shelter in AIC compound because he is helpless.
The pastor apologizes for the incident and calls on communities to let the law take its course.
‘We are sorry for what is happening within the compound of AIC. It is good that we are able to catch the person, and the law will take its course. So let us leave to the police, they are the ones monitoring and supervising and keeping the law. Let us keep watching one another so that we can correct whatever information we got from anyone’, he says.
The accused who is 37-year-old was alleged for raping a ten-year-old girl inside AIC latrine on Wednesday.
Police continues to investigate the suspect who is being rumored as a watchman while the victim was taken for medical checkup at Torit State Hospital.
