The war in South Sudan has left at least 382,000 people dead, according to Enough Project on Wednesday.

Project Director John Prendergast warns that the number will continue to increase until the root causes of violence are addressed.

The world until now is dramatically underestimating how deadly the civil war in South Sudan has been, he regrets.

Brian Adeba, Enough Project Deputy Director of Policy, says cautions that the huge death toll reinforces the need to hold accountable both the direct perpetrators and the leaders responsible for the violence.

He calls for increase international pressure through network sanctions, anti-money laundering measures, and a strictly enforced arms embargo.
