The Minister of Information of Yei River confirms that the soldier in connection with the shooting of a Nepalese peace keeper in the State has been arrested.

Alfred Kenneth Duku says the soldier is under the custody of security apparatus under investigation.

He adds that the outcome of the investigation will determine the next steps to be taken by the government.

Duku confirms that the government is in full control of its forces in the State mentioning that the situation is generally calm and stable.

However, he condemns sections of the press release that further reads ” the situation is an evidence of a lack of command and control that has resulted to an ruling elements”.

He says the occurrence is an isolated individual incidence that has nothing to do with the principles of the organized forces.

According to a UN press release on Monday, an SPLA soldier started shooting in the air near the UNMISS convoy of four vehicles leaving a Nepalese peacekeeper wounded.
