A senior nurse in charge of the children ward at Mother of Mercy Hospital in Heiban County of Nuba Mountains confirms increase in malaria, pneumonia and asthma diseases among children.

Isaac Loguri told  Voice of Peace Radio that the ward admits five malaria cases and more than six of pneumonia every day.

He attributes these infections to the wet environment, stagnant water and bushy areas.

Nurse Loguri explains that most of sick children respond to medications unless they reach complication stage.

He urges parents to make sure children sleep under mosquito nets and  clear bushes and drain stagnant water around their houses.

Loguri advises the community to rush with any sick child to the hospital for treatment.
