Intergovernmental Authority on Development or IGAD welcomes the signing of the Joint Declaration on Cooperation among Ethiopia, Eritrea and Somalia in the first week of September in Asmara, Eritrea.
In a statement issued on Sunday in Djibouti, IGAD also welcomed the constructive engagement to normalization of relations between Djibouti and Eritrea.
It says the developments take place in the setting of a positive wind of change across the region.
IGAD commends the leaders of the region for their wise and visionary leadership.
The bloc looks forward to the full normalization of relations among all countries of the Horn of Africa to realize shared aspiration for sustainable peace and development of the region and the whole continent.
The statement says IGAD will continue to support all efforts that may contribute to moving forward the process of normalization of relations between Djibouti and Eritrea.
It adds that IGAG will also help in the search for sustainable peace and development of the region.
