The Mayor of Tonj Municipality assures the public that there is price reduction initiative to be effected by the municipal council effective August 30th.
Joseph Anei Mador, told Don Bosco Radio that last week the municipal authority issued the order on the reduction of non-food commodities in Tonj markets.
‘The committee was given one week to consult with the Chamber of Commerce to find out the reasons why the prices are still increasing even as the US dollar rate is low’ Anei explains.
The recent signed peace agreement in Khartoum forced the initial exchange rate of the US dollars to drop and the traders cannot continue increasing prices.
Tonj Traders should decrease the prices of the local products to enable our local population to afford food for their families, he urges.
The urges the security personnel to implement the order without excuses.
The Mayor was speaking to Don Bosco Radio on Wednesday in Tonj Municipality.
