The state budget scrutiny committee for Yei River state on Monday questioned minister for local government on how county commissioners can be held accountable.
Daniel Lokoroto Arama accuses county commissioners of not accounting for the money meant for teachers who are currently unavailable.
Arama stresses that the county commissioners should account for the salary of teachers who have been absent from work due to the insecurity in the state
Local government minister Huda Michael Laila says the commissioners are not independent.
She adds that the grant meant for paying the teachers is now stopped until the county commissioner’s give proper accountability for the money of teachers currently absent.
