South Sudanese youth groups living abroad are planning to organize summit in Juba to promote peace and unity among young southerners ahead of the referendum and beyond.
Sixteen youth delegates who came from many parts of the world, including Uganda, Kenya, Australia, UK and Canada, are in Juba to take part in the referendum and organize the Southern Sudanese Youth Summit under the theme Peace, Leadership and Change.Nyadol William Nyon, who is a member of the organizing committee, told the press this morning that the youths decided to come from abroad to register and vote at home to inspire their colleagues in the Diaspora.
Ms Nyon added that the group wanted to organize a summit to promote peace and bring about change with the contribution of the youth.
Ms Nyon said the Southern Sudanese Youth Summit aims at providing an open ground for youth to share and express their ideas to impart change and rebuild South Sudan.
She said the youth were leaders of today and not of tomorrow and they wanted to take an active role for a positive change in the region.
The three-day summit starts on December 20 at the Nyakuron Cultural Centre in Juba.
