The Commissioner of Jalwau County in Tonj State has confirmed that two prisoners who were trying to escape from the jail were shot dead by the security personnel.

According to Don Bosco Radio, Thokriel Cilim says the culprits would have only been arrested if they had not started shooting at the soldiers.

He says the two prisoners killed three people in 2015.

In a related development, Commissioner Cilim expresses government’s effort to ensure that criminals causing conflict among citizens or cattle raiders face the law.

He says his administration has collected more than 42 heads of cattle that were stolen.

The commissioner instructs chiefs of the area to respect the law and the order of collecting all firearms in the hands of civilians.

He encourages everybody to stand behind the two leaders who signed a permanent ceasefire and other contentious issues in Sudan and Uganda to end the war.
