UNESCO says South Sudan youth at great risk and needs urgent action

Youth of South Sudan are at great risk and requires an urgent action to deter them from involvement in the ongoing conflict says United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural organizations or UNESCO.
 
It says vocational and technical education is the solution to the South Sudan young men and women.
 
Vocational courses have the ability to engage youth in productive activities that improve their livelihoods.
 
UNESCO Representative in South Sudan, Sardar Umar Alam says all must work together to strengthen and streamline technical and vocational education for young people to improve their lives.
 
He spoke during the launch of UNESCO’s Rapid Assessment report of technical and vocational education on Monday in Juba.
 
Stefano Ellero, head of the Cooperation of European Union Delegation for South Sudan, calls for need to empower a wide range of stakeholders to come together to improve busyness and employment opportunities for youth.
 
UNESCO report found out that many partners have their policies and curricula that is not responsive to the labour market.
