The Ambassador of Congo to South Sudan says the people of the Democratic Republic of Congo and South Sudan should work together to maintain peace in the two countries.

Rene Illuime Tembele believes through cooperation and hard work, the two countries will achieve lasting peace.

He was talking during the celebration of the 58 year’s anniversary of the Republic of Congo on Saturday in Juba.

According to Ambassador Illuime, the celebration will start by prayer on Saturday and Sunday and children will conclude it by football matches at Juba Stadium.

‘We will work hand in hand to make sure that peace and security prevail in our region. That means we have to work hard so that we can cooperate in all areas of life, economically, politically, diplomatically and socially so that we work and follow the integration program of Africa Union’, The Ambassador stresses.

He appreciates President Salva Kiir Mayardit and opposition leader Dr Riek Machar Teny for signing the deal in Khartoum, Sudan.

‘We hope and call upon all our neighbouring countries to support Democratic Republic of Congo and South Sudan because it’s a very critical period. We need to work together to help each other but not to complicate the situation again. We are ready and we have opened our hands to those partners who are ready to help our countries to move forward interms of development. But those who are coming to destabilize our countries, we advise them to stop. We have not closed our doors. We need friends such that we work together to bring peace and develop Congo and South Sudan,’ he adds

Democratic Republic of the Congo Independence Day is a national holiday which is celebrated to commemorate the country’s liberation from Belgium in 1960.
