Lakes civil society condemns killing of UN peacekeeper in South Sudan

The Civil Society Organizations Network in Lakes States strongly condemns the killing of UN Mission peacekeeper in the country. 
 
In a statement the Secretary General of the Network, Lam Makuach Lam sayskilling of the humanitarians workers will not be a proper solution to South Sudan crisis.
 
He appeals that UN peacekeepers and other aid workers in the country should be allowed to carry out their duty freely and safely and not be subjected to senseless attacks.
 
The Network calls upon the two parties to reconsider the support that has been granted by the humanitarian workers to help the people of South Sudan.
 
The Network expresses sincere sympathy to the family, friends and colleagues of the peacekeeper, Lieutenant Commander Ashraf Siddiqui, who was killed on Tuesday.
 
It urges the humanitarian workers to continue supporting the people of South Sudan at different levels.
 
The Network encourages President Salva Kiir and Dr Riek Machar to bring lasting peace to the country such that all parties respect the freedom of movement.
 
The Bangladeshi peacekeeper was killed on Tuesday in armed attack on a convoy while supporting the delivery of humanitarian aid to civilians in Yei River State.
