The Commissioner for Agriculture in Yei River County applauds cultivators for good production this year.
Edmond Taban Gogo says he toured all counties in Yei and found that people have properly utilized the first season.
He says maize, cassava, cowpeas and sweat potatoes are doing well in the field.
The Commissioner believes hunger will not be much in this first season.
Taban says a national organization trained people on urban farming so they can utilize waste products in the house as manure for good crop production.
He adds that the farmers have also been trained to use broken jerrycanes, basins, sacks and car tyres for planting cabbage, eggplants and tomatoes in their houses.
The commissioner reports that the trainers advised farmers not to leave land without planting something that can support their families.
He was talking to Radio Easter after the conclusion of the training that brought together 42 participants of which ten are women.
