Civil Society Organizations or CSOs in Lakes State are appealing to President Salva Kiir Mayardit to reconsider Dr Riek Machar Teny to return to Juba and be part of the upcoming transitional government to bring peace.

In a statement received by Radio Good News, the CSOs call upon all parties to the conflict in South Sudan to come together and sign a lasting peace agreement.

The CSOs also appeal to the SPLM in Opposition to abolish its call for dissolution of parliament and establishment of two armies.

‘Therefore, as voice of voiceless, we call upon the Government to reconsider its stance on the return of Dr. Riek Machar to Juba and possibly as part of the upcoming transitional government’ the CSOs urge.

Part of the statement urges the mediators to shorten the period of the transitional government to 18 months for citizens to go for elections to decide their leaders.

The CSOs calls on AU, IGAD, Troika and the UN to consider enforcing targeted sanctions at the most top level of political leadership.

It also demands for a revitalized agreement that should be a ‘Win-Win Pact’.

In the statement, the CSOs stress the need for all political parties to put the interest of South Sudanese above all their interests to avoid disintegration of citizens.

The CSOs notes that it’s the leader’s sole responsibility to bring back lasting peace and reconciliation, social cohesion, and diversity to unify the people.

It also urges both leaders to choose forgiveness rather than division and work together for Peace.

The CSOs concludes by appealing to all the warring parties to soften their demands and positions for the sake of the innocent civilians in South Sudan.
