Civil Society Land Alliance in Greater Western Equatoria region has trained community members on land related issues in Yambio.
The training aimed at empowering community members with knowledge on how to respond to issues concerning land in their respective residential areas.
It also focused on classification and the right to acquire land in South Sudan according to the executive director Benjamin Ibako.
He says their aim is to help the community to know the right procedure to acquire land and how to go about with challenges.
Land has been the most unsolved issues in Yambio which has left very many people losing their own land.
Viola Rahma, one of the participants, praises the Allinace for organizing such training.
She notes that such trainings need to include traditional leaders and people from the County Land Authority so that they learn how to work according to the constitution of South Sudan.
The lady believes that if those concerned with distribution of land are well educated, it will reduce corruption.
Participants in the training stated that land grabbing and disrespect to human rights, favoritisms are some of the challenges people face on land issues.
The speakers made the remarks on Saturday in Yambio Women Resource center.
