Regional body, Inter-Governmental Authority on Development or IGAD will not tolerate violations of the Cessation of Hostilities Agreement signed in December last year. This was highlighted by the Ethiopian Foreign Minister while representing the Chairperson of the block.

He points out that, IGAD, African Union and the international community will speak with one voice on the compliance to the ceasefire agreement and other decisions.
IGAD Special Envoy to South Sudan, Ambassador Ismail Wais, says the conflict resurfaced in 2016 because of mistrust from politicians and their failure to compromise.
He encourages the parties to work hard to enhance the spirit of accommodating fellow citizens by seeking workable solutions to the conflict in the country.
Festus Mogae, chairperson of the Joint Monitoring and Evaluation Commission or JMEC says South Sudanese parties in the Revitalization Forum are in a critical moment to decide to end the suffering of people within the country and abroad.
He urges the parties to fully adhere to the process, abide by the declaration of principles signed in February and respect the Cessation of Hostilities Agreement.
Head of UNMISS David Shearer said displaced people in the UN camps and other places are pleading with the parties negotiating in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia to find peace so that they can return home.
He observes that there are many people suffering in parts of South Sudan where he visited.
