Nurses and midwives celebrate world midwives day in Wau

Nurses and midwives in Wau state joined the rest of the world in the commemoration of nurses and midwives day under the theme: ‘Prevention of Mothers’.
 
Representative of the Nurses and midwives association Cecilia Raphael says the day is celebrated to recognize the services and the importance of nurses and midwives in society.
 
She encourages her colleagues to continue serving the community with professionalism.
 
Director General, Ministry of Health Christopher Paul Madut appeals to the midwives and the nurses to continue serving South Sudanese despite challenges they are facing.
 
He hopes that, in the coming years, their number will increase in the state.
 
Director of Wau Teaching Hospital, Bakhit Ubur Mawien comments that nurses and midwives are the fundamentals of health delivery.
 
He adds that their duty is to receive and take good care of patients in any health facility.
 
Globally, Midwives and Nurses days are celebrated every year to recognize their distinctive contribution and role to patients they care for.
