An official said attempts by the Khartoum government to rig the referendum vote are impossible.

In an interview with Bakhita radio, Alfred Ladu Gore, GoSS Presidential adviser for Diplomatic Affairs, said the National Congress Party (NCP) was trying all means including buying registration cards, registering non southerners and foreigners to rig the referendum results.

Mr. Gore explained that all attempts by Khartoum to rig the referendum would have less impact on the results.

He advised the security personnel to be always alert to avoid desestabilization during the vote.

Mr. Gore said the security people would hunt out secret agents who spy for the government of Khartoum.

He concluded that some foreigners hired by Khartoum to disturb the referendum were arrested in Lainya, Morobo and Kaya as they tried to register.
