The vice president of the government of South Sudan addressed a public rally yesterday at Malakal stadium on referendum issues and oil security.
Riek Machar Teny told the citizens in Malakal to work for peace during the time of referendum, Voice of Love reported.Dr. Machar said that the referendum was a once in a life-time opportunity and the only way left for solving the problem between the North and the South urging the citizens to choose wisely.
The vice president told the citizens to protect northerners living among them and stay in peace.
Dr. Machar spent a day at Falouj, in Melut County where he signed an agreement with vice president Ustaz Ali Osman Taha on oil security.
He said that the peace partners agreed to use JIUs, SPLA and police to protect oil workers.
Dr. Machar added that the production of the oil will continue in the same system even if the south votes for secession.
The vice president told the public that the oil agreement was signed because foreigners and northerners who work at the oil wells wanted to leave in fear of referendum violence.
