The government of Gbudue State on Monday condemns attack on Catholic priest on Sunday in Yambio-Nzara road.

Unknown armed group attack Fr Natale Vairi on Sunday morning seven kilometers away from Yambio while going to Mupoi on pastoral duty, Anisa Radio reports.

Gbudue State Information Minister Gibson Bullen Wande says the armed youth blocked the road in Saura on Sunday and shoot at the church vehicle.

But Fr Vairi and the driver survived the attack without any injury.

Wande says the state government is committed to peace revitalization process, respects ceasefire and the international decision to bring tranquility to the country.

The minister is urging the armed youth in the bush to desist from attacks and be committed to peace for the benefit of the society.

He warns citizens to stop relying on rumours and false information.

Wande discloses that the security situation in the Gbudue State is relatively calm and the government has deployed forces to Saura to maintain safety in the area.

The information minister urges armed men to stop such acts so that citizens can concentrate on farming activities.

Last year the Inter-Faith Based Initiative for Peace went to Li-Rangu and the youth showed their willingness to negotiate peace with the government.

After the attacks on Sunday no armed group claimed the responsibility.

The minister made the remark after the road ambush on Sunday on Yambio-Nzara road.
