The Bishop Emeritus of Torit Catholic Diocese is appealing on all South Sudanese to continue praying for peace in the country.

In his Easter message from Holy Trinity Peace Village in former Eastern Equatoria, bishop Taban reminds Christians to keep their faith in the risen Christ.

‘We need to remind ourselves on the promises we made at baptism through prayers and following the example of Jesus who offered himself for us by dying on the Cross.’ The message reads

The prelate notes that the body of Christ is bleeding for us. ‘No one can have greater Love than to lay down his life for his friends, brothers and sisters.’

He says he is grateful to God for the existence of Holy Trinity Peace Village which helps pastoral communities around the area who have been in enmity, finally come to a common understanding and living together.

‘The Chiefs and Elders of the two communities dialogued to having peace among themselves and sharing the grazing land and water point. As a result the two communities held ecumenical prayer with all the Christian denominations in Jebel Boma, he says

‘Let this Easter be a resurrection of our people from their suffering. We continue to pray for peace in ourselves, for our country south Sudan and for our neighbours for a lasting peace. Bishop Taban adds.
