Subscribers of Vivacell mobile Company in Juba have expressed disappointment over the suspension of the network which has affected their daily communications.
Speaking to CRN today in Juba, some of the subscribers say the suspension of the network has affected their businesses as they are unable to communicate with their friends and families.
An anonymous source that spoke to CRN on condition of anonymity says he has not been able to reach to his branch offices in other parts of the country.
‘Definitely it has affected our day to day running of business with our different field officers. I tried to communicate with a number of our field officers and it has been difficult. Calls were more reliable than Emails because with the emails there were issues of accessibility. But with calls it is always reliable to get direct contact with my field staff’ the angry subscriber stressed.
Lilian Ocho is another Vivacell subscriber who heads a private business in Torit town. She says the suspension of the network has also affected her business. She added that before the suspension, she had more than 600ssp mobile credit card and 2GB internet data but now she cannot use them anymore.
‘I have been trying to communicate with people back in the office in Torit to enable me accomplished my job in Juba. But since morning I can’t complete that. I have sent emails and most of the people there don’t have internet connection to read them. This suspension has affected everything’ Lilian added.
Samuel Kenyi works with the Catholic Church in Juba. He says he has been cut off with friends and family members because majority of them are using Vivacell.
He urges Vivacell Company to comply with the law of the country and open the network in the interest of the subscribers.
‘If the policies are there it is good for them to follow them policy and work with the government to resume operations’ Samuel noted.
Senior management of Vivacell Company declined to comment on the matter when contacted by CRN. But they have issued a release calling on their customers and retailers to be patient as negotiation continues.
The National Communication Authority ordered the suspension of Vivacell mobile Company earlier last week for failing to comply with the country’s communication laws.
