A two-day workshop seeking to address challenges facing internally displaced persons or IDPs in South Sudan has started in Juba on Tuesday.

The seminar aims at enabling the country to prepare for repatriation of displaced people.

Manasseh Lomole Waya, Chairperson of the Relief and Rehabilitation Commission urges his state counterparts to cooperate with aid agencies to help needy people in their areas.

The workshop would pave the way for development of laws and policies for protection of displaced people in the country, says Vincent Kwesi Parker, Deputy Representative of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugee or UNHCR in South Sudan.

He calls on the warring factions to silence the guns to enable people return to their homes and prevent future displacement.

The event was organized by the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs in partnership with the UN agencies in South Sudan.

The seminar attracted over 50 delegates from all over South Sudan.
