Bring traditional editorial practices back, UJOSS urges editors

The head of the Union of Journalists of South Sudan or UJOSS is urging the station managers and news editors to stick to the traditional editorial policies which informed the public with facts.
 
Addressing more than 20 station managers and editors in Juba on Friday, Oliver Modi, urges editors to ensure they assign their reporters to collect what he terms as ‘First hand information’ so that public are informed with correct information.
 
“Bring the traditional culture of editor back of giving assignment to these journalists to get the right information from the sources, first information.This Internet should not dicive us.We need to engaged these journalists as much we can”
 
Modi believes a real editor must be aware and updated with surroundings of every aspects of life. He says reading, listening to news on a daily bases must be a traditional practice of all the editors.
 
The chairman reveals that reaching to the main sources of the story and assigning a right reporter will minimize risks of misleading the public with wrong information.
 
“We have a swimming [pool] full of information. You as an editor i don’t think if there is any space in you that doesn’t not read new”
 
Modi reiterates UJOSS commitment to continue offering short trainings for journalists in the country to build up their professions.
