The commissioner of Torit East County is urging the youths and chiefs to be transparent and tell the truth, iin case of any problem that occurs in their community to avoid conflicts.
Majak Toby accuses the chiefs and the young people of telling lies whenever anything wrong happens.
‘Youth is very rigid and this is what is in you. Chiefs and youth are not good because they are hiding thieves, if someone identifies any of his stolen property from somebody, the chiefs and the youth do not want to solve the problem. I say, if any complainer manages to get his or her property, the chief have power to give it back to the owner and take the person to police’.
Mr. Toby says some people are not willing to live in peace.
He warns that killing may result into continuous tensions among communities.
‘I tell you to struggle to earn your living. There are many people who do not want to live peacefully because of the stealing and killing in people’s mind. Things are not good. How can you kill your brother? This is hatred! I am telling you to leave a good life. You respect the elders and advice your children. Why did you abundant agriculture? Remember, killing has no profit’.
The Commissioner calls on the youth to engage in developmental activities than joining armed groups.
Mr. Toby made the statement during Otuho traditional marathon named Allam in Murahatiha village.
