People with disabilities celebrated their international day in Juba to present their joys and challenges to the government of Southern Sudan and to the international community.
SCR News caught up with the celebrations at the University of Juba compound.Susan Ede expressed happiness at the day which recognized their fundamental socio-economic and political rights to education and employment.
Ms. Ede said that women with disabilities were not allowed to share in the 25 percent accorded for women by the government of Southern Sudan.
She added that other women could not represent their sisters with disabilities adequately.
Ding Awar Agot said he felt great because the world was paying respect and restoring dignity to people with disabilities.
Mr. Agot urged other disabled citizens in hiding to stand up for their rights guaranteed by the international community.
The event under the theme Keeping the Promise was organized by groups of disabled in collaboration well-wishers to demonstrate their strength to GoSS and the international community.
