Activist urges government to address persistent issues in South Sudan

Address continuous issues hampering public safety and security in South Sudan, civil society organization chairperson in Eastern Equatoria urges the government.
 
Charles Okulu, while addressing women, chiefs and organized forces in Torit says, girl child compensation and child abduction among others remain a challenge in the state, Emmanuel Radio reports.
 
He says various communities have raised concerns during their visit to some institutions in the state few weeks ago.
 
The purpose of visiting the institutions was to collect information in regards to safety concern and other issues, Okulu adds.
 
The Chairperson says the round table discussion came as a need to find solutions to harmful traditional practices that violate the rights of children in the state.
 
He says recommendations of the meeting would be forwarded to the parliament for deliberation and passing into laws.
 
Okullu urges technical experts to collaborate with civil society organizations to address community issues.
 
The chairperson for civil society in Eastern Equatoria was speaking during one-day roundtable discussion in Torit on Friday.
