The 2010 harvest presents encouraging results, but it is not enough to feed the whole of South Sudan.

Ali Said, FAO chief technical advisor for the food security information programme in south Sudan, told SCR News that indicators show that 2010 harvest will be better than the previous one but still insufficient to meet food requirements of all the population.

Mr. Said said that floods, displacements and conflicts together with poverty affected food production in south Sudan.

Food production deteriorated in south Sudan after prolonged droughts and failed rains together with insecurity and more than half of the population is threatened by hunger.
