Qatar and Kuwait donate 187 tons of food items to South Sudan

The Associations of Qatari and Kuwaiti Red Crescents donated 187 tons of food items to help affected communities in South Sudan.
 
Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Hussein Mar Nyot, says they appealed for aid to six million people across the country.
 
He appreciates Qatari and Kuwaiti Red Crescents donation and calls for more assistance from the donors’ community.
 
The minister admits that the ongoing conflict has created a huge humanitarian gap that needs quick intervention to help needy communities across South Sudan.
 
He discloses that World Food Program is expected to start air dropping food from Wednesday in Southern Liech State.
 
Khalid Alemelhuda, representative of Qatari Red Crescent, expresses full support and solidarity to affected communities of South Sudan.
 
He pledges his country’s commitment to provide more assistance in the coming period and hopes it reaches the needy.
 
Simon Cammelbeeck, WFP Deputy Country Director, says the food, Qatar and Kuwait donated will rescue communities that were not reached due to heavy rains and insecurity.
