Development partners plan to build a unified centre to coordinate the work of various organizations involved in socio-economic and political activities.
Representatives from international NGOs, civil society and community based organizations attended the Civic Engagement Centre annual meeting today in Juba to discuss ways to strengthen cooperation.James Gadzirai is the program manager of Mercy Corps Resource Centres and Civic Engagement support. He told SCR News that the aim of the meeting was to pool together financial and technical resources.
Mr. Gadzirai stated the meeting created a platform to incorporate member organizations to share ideas, activities and information.
Mr. Gadzirai disclosed that Mercy Corps will construct an office he described as “a one stop shop centre” to be completed by April next year with money from USAID and UNDP.
He added that local organizations appointed members to coordinate the Juba Civic Engagement Centre, the new structure to be built.
The one-day meeting attended by some 40 participants was organized by Mercy Corps under the theme √É’Localizing Institutional Capacity in Sudan’.
