Tombura-Yambio Catholic Diocese is opening a micro-finance institution call ‘Diocesan Financial Inter-services’ in Yambio town, says Finance Secretary.

Fr Gamborpai William Abbas says they are struggling to be good stewards of cash and all assets to ensure economy competence in the long run, Radio Anisa reports.

He adds that they have adopted new accounting software known as quick books enterprise 2018.

The finance secretary reveals that they are restructuring the office premises and training staff to understand the new financial system.

Fr Abbas adds that they have carried out three trainings for the non-financial managers on procurement, logistics and stores management and computerized accounting.

The priest notes that quitting of Equity and KCB banks in Western Equatoria region has forced the Diocese to start a micro-finance institution.

He mentions that they have started to open accounts for the Diocesan staff and soon they will open doors for the public.

The main aim is to improve savings with interest, transfer cash to East Africa and improve livelihood through low interest borrowing for farmers and business people, he discloses.
