The youth of Saint Peter and Paul of the Catholic Diocese of Torit express their readiness in constructing their Cathedral.

The youth promise to lay at least 400 thousand bricks within six months starting from the first week of December.

Andrew Jada Ottawa, Youth Chairperson of the Cathedral, says laying bricks is a clear demonstration of their dream in building the Church, Radio Emmanuel reports.

He says his leadership is committed to realize the success of their pledge.

Sonia Martin, a member of youth at Saint Peter and Paul, says attending prayers in an old structure is risky.

She appreciates the spirit of young people which she terms it as ‘a great blessing’.

Joseph Simon Akau, another member, says for the success of the initiative, there is need for enough tools and funds.

He calls on Christian communities and donors to support the plan because building a cathedral is a collective responsibility.

Vicar-General of the Catholic Diocese of Torit, Fr Arkangelo Lokoro, describes the move as awaking alarm to the administration of the Diocese.

He pledges that his administration is ready to work hand in hand with the youth of the Parish.

The speakers talked to Radio Emmanuel after clearing a piece of land for laying bricks at Saint Peter and Paul Cathedral in Torit on Saturday.
