Action for Children Development Foundation in collaboration with Save the Children International launched a new child protection program on Thursday in Rumbek.
Simon Makur Marek, Child Rights’ Governance Project Officer in Rumbek, says the project is to enlighten communities about harmful practices to children, Radio Good News reports.
Marek advises communities to avoid forcing children to submit to harmful traditional practices.
Hundreds of community members, NGOs, UN staff, civil society organizations and government officials attended the event.
The project is being run in Rumbek Centre.
But Action for Children Development Foundation and Save the Children pledge to expand to other counties if they get more funds.
