AMECEA calls for urgent peace to boost development in South Sudan

Bring peace to the country immediately to enable development happen, chairman of the Association of Member Episcopal Conferences of Eastern Africa or AMECEA, urges political leaders of South Sudan.
 
Cardinal Burhaniyesus Souraphel told CRN that President Salva Kiir last week they shared with the president the need for peace in South Sudan to boost development.
 
The Cardinal believes lack of peace will only bring a lot of sufferings, displacements and lose of lives.
 
He adds that there is need for all refugees in the neighboring countries and IDPs to return home to participate in the development of the country.
 
Cardinal Souraphel urges South Sudanese leaders to take the opportunity of the world solidarity and show some commitment in bringing peace and stability to the country.
 
The Catholic prelate assures South Sudanese people the support of the universal Catholic Church in their difficult moments they are going though. 
 
‘You should never feel that you are alone’, he stresses.
 
Cardinal Souraphel appeals to South Sudanese citizens not to give up in prayer.
