Citizens of Torit in Imotong state say the recent harvest has led to the reduction of food commodity prices in the town market compared to the past.
They say most families are now able to put food on table because the price per bowel of grains has reduced from 350 ssp to 200ssp, Emmanuel Radio reports.
Dorcus Sunday Torit resident says the involvement of most citizens in agriculture has contributed to reduction of food commodity prices in the market. She cites insecurity and cultivation of long term grains as the cause of hunger in the state.
Sunday advises the local population to cultivate short term grains which she believes will lessen hunger and market prices in the state.
Cenna Papaz is a customer at Torit Juba Road Market, She says though the prices have reduced, some families still cannot afford to provide to their families.
Papaz is urging state authorities to improve security along the roads so as more goods enter the town.
Ikanga Christine Oliha reveals that reduction in prices is only limited to food commodities. She says other commodities prices are still on the rise.
She however says there is no uniform price of food commodities in Torit markets as traders charge on their own.
Christine appeals to government authorities to regulate the prices of goods.
Imatong state chamber of commerce issued a statement reducing prices last week.
