A Lakes State referendum official appealed to eligible voters to turn up and register, to improve on the low turn up, especially among women.

Mabor Riak Magok is the Public Outreach officer at Lakes State Referendum High Committee. He told Good News Radio that the turn up at the registration centres in Lakes State was very low.

Mr. Riak appealed to cattle camp youths, women, chiefs and religious leaders to register at the nearest Referendum Centre and acquire a voting card.

Mr. Riak made a particular appeal to women, explaining that since they were the majority in the State, they needed to register in large numbers.

He also encouraged those who registered to keep their cards safe.

Lakes State has so far registered fewer women than men, a phenomenon that has surprised referendum officials.
