The chairperson for Chamber of Commerce in Imotong acknowledges that this season’s harvest has resulted to reduction prices of food commodities in the state.
Lilly Hidita Nartisio says the life of citizens in the state has positively changed compared to the past, Radio Emmanuel reports.
She says this season harvest is plenty enough which has helped citizens from seeking food from the neighboring countries.
Hidita says many families in Torit are now able to put food on the table and hunger has reduced in the state.
She admits the availability of abundance food in the market has affected business owners from gaining margin profit compared to the past.
The chairperson of the Chamber calls on the local population to increase their production for prices of food commodities to keep on reducing to help the poor.
She urges citizens not to rely on humanitarian aid, but rather work for themselves.
Hidita appeals to humanitarian organizations and other stakeholders to support citizens with seeds and tools for farming.
She says her office is working hard to ensure that prices of food commodities keep on reducing in the state.
