A midwife in Tonj Civil Hospital is calling on women to avoid giving birth at homes to shun complications.

Susana Mario Juma says many people still believe in traditional things that cannot help communities, Radio Don Bosco reports.

She blames men who refuse to bring their women to deliver in the hospital due to tradition beliefs.

The midwife encourages the women to visit health centres during pregnancy for better health monitoring.

Deborah Arwal, one who gave birth at the hospital, says doctors give a lot of help to mothers at dangerous times like bleeding.

She advises women not to deliver at home to avoid causing problems to them.

The two made the remarks on Thursday in an interview to Radio Don Bosco.
