The Team of Girl’s Education South Sudan or GESS in collaboration with the ministry of Education in Tonj State on Wednesday launched the payment of money for girls from primary five to secondary level.
David Mabior, head of the team says all girls registered in the progamme across the country will be receiving 2900 SSP, Radio Don Bosco reports.
He says the money is given purposely for the girls to buy basic needs, like sanitary pads.
The money targets more than seven thousand girls in Tonj, says Dominic Deng, Mayom State Minister of Education.
Elizabeth Amer, head girl of Deng Nhial Memorial High School expresses her happiness saying the money will help them buy basic needs which some parents could not affordable.
Marko Makol, Kalkuel Primary School, head teacher, advises girls to go to school regularly for better performance and to benefit from the money.
Makol appeals to parents and guardians to prepare for earlier registration of their children and not to ignore boys.
